Brian Evanko

Brian Evanko became president and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of The Cigna Group^® in July 2026. Under his leadership, The Cigna Group is accelerating a new era in healthcare, centered on customer needs and fueled by innovation, data and technology, and the dedication of its talented team.

Over nearly three decades, Evanko has helped guide The Cigna Group through significant industry change, including evolving regulatory environments, public health challenges, and shifting policy landscapes. His leadership experience spans operations, finance, government programs, and international markets, giving him a broad perspective on aligning strategy, performance, and talent to deliver sustained growth and enhance the customer experience. A strong advocate for innovation, Evanko has accelerated The Cigna Group’s use of data, technology, and artificial intelligence as foundational drivers of healthcare transformation.

Prior to his current role, Evanko served as president and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of The Cigna Group, where he oversaw all of the company’s businesses across its growth platforms—Cigna Healthcare^® and Evernorth Health Services^®. He also served as president and chief executive officer of Cigna Healthcare and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of The Cigna Group. In this dual role, he led Cigna Healthcare’s portfolio of health benefits businesses, where he and the team delivered strong performance, outpacing the market, and enhanced the customer experience with digital tools to make health interactions simpler and more affordable. As CFO, he led the company’s financial operations, investment management, and underwriting functions. Under Evanko’s leadership as CFO, The Cigna Group consistently delivered on its financial commitments, and he guided the strategic management and deployment of capital to support long-term growth.

Evanko joined The Cigna Group in 1998 through the Actuarial Executive Development Program and ultimately led the program, helping shape career paths and growth opportunities for early-career talent. Over his tenure with the company, Evanko has held a wide range of leadership roles, including president of Cigna Healthcare’s U.S. Government business and serving in senior actuarial and financial positions in Singapore and Hong Kong.

In addition to his responsibilities at The Cigna Group, Evanko serves on the board of directors for TriNet, a leading provider of comprehensive human resources solutions for small and medium-size businesses, as well as The Connecticut Science Center, the state’s foremost institution for science education.

Evanko has a bachelor’s degree in actuarial science from Pennsylvania State University and holds the FSA (Fellow of the Society of Actuaries), MAAA (Member of the American Academy of Actuaries) and CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) designations.
