Employee Volunteerism

Discover how our employees are volunteering in their communities for the greater good.

We want to create positive change in our neighborhoods, cities, and towns, so we’re starting close to home–where our employees live, work, and play. We’re making it easier for colleagues to get involved in ways that matter most to them by inspiring them with new ways to volunteer, give back, and be recognized for doing so.

$2.8+ million in volunteer engagement value

Recognizing our Employees’ Commitment to Serve Others

The Cigna Group recognizes employee volunteerism in the following ways:

  • We offer an annual benefit for employees to use up to eight hours of paid time away to volunteer on their own with a cause that is personal and meaningful to them.
  • We offer a monetary donation in the employee’s name when they participate in consistent volunteerism with eligible nonprofits.
Thank you for supporting volunteerism in such a significant way! I appreciate how giving back is a hallmark of our company’s culture.Hari Sharma, Senior Manager,

Building Healthier Communities

Healthy communities don’t just happen. They are created and cared for by those who live there.

Empowering Children Entering Foster Care

Employees from seven company sites across the country recently decorated over 1,000 duffel bags for Foster Love, an organization that equips children entering foster care with personal bags filled with comfort and hygiene items.

Creating Comfort for Veterans

Colleagues in our Connecticut headquarters joined Salute, our veteran-focused enterprise resource group, to make dozens of quick-tie blankets for homeless veterans in partnership with Soldiers' Angels, a nonprofit dedicated to providing aid, comfort, and resources to the military, veterans, and their families.

Lighting Up the Darkness

A team of Connecticut employees helped assemble locally made luminaries to light the way for the annual walk put on by For All Ages, a nonprofit with a mission to end ageism, decrease loneliness, and improve overall health and well-being.
