Employee Volunteerism

Discover how our employees are volunteering in their communities for the greater good.

We want to create positive change in our neighborhoods, cities, and towns, so we’re starting close to home–where our employees live, work, and play. We’re making it easier for colleagues to get involved in ways that matter most to them by inspiring them with new ways to volunteer, give back, and be recognized for doing so.

Recognizing our Employees’ Commitment to Serve Others

The Cigna Group recognizes employee volunteerism in the following ways:

  • We offer an annual benefit for employees to use up to eight hours of paid time away to volunteer on their own with a cause that is personal and meaningful to them.
  • We offer volunteer opportunities throughout the year for employees to come together – in person and virtually – as one team supporting local communities.
  • We offer a Dollars for Doers program for employees to direct donations to a nonprofit of their choice based on number of volunteer hours logged.
“I’m so glad Cigna supports and rewards volunteering. I have enjoyed devoting my time and expertise to organizations that I feel make a positive impact on my community.”Calie Santana, Medical Senior Principal

Building Healthier Communities

Healthy communities don’t just happen. They are created and cared for by those who live there.

Providing Critical Home Repairs

In partnership with Habitat for Humanity, volunteers gathered in Phoenix to make critical repairs at the home of a disabled Navy veteran. They completed a variety of tasks to repair different aspects of the home, including interior and exterior painting, and roof repair.

Helping Out at STEM Night

Colleagues helped run the coding table during the Connecticut Science Center’s Pathways to STEM night, a free public event with the goal to connect interested students with the tools and opportunities they need to learn and explore career paths.

Building a Fence

In partnership with Veterans Community Project, an organization offering temporary transitional housing to veterans along with wraparound services, over 80 team members in St. Louis worked together to build a fence along one side of the resident community.
